SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

A white GMC Yukon was stopped for an expired tag in the parking lot of the Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street where driver Graciela Garza was found to be operating under a suspended driver's license for failure to pay violations.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

A loaded 22 caliber semi-automatic handgun was found lying on the ground on I-95 South just past the Highway 17 overpass at exit 22.  The gun will be stored at the Ridgeland Police Department pending owner identification through ATF records.

A Toyota Tacoma and a Dodge Ram were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smiths Crossing.  No injuries were reported.

 

SEPTEMBER 29, 2013

Officers responded to Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street where a subject with mental health issues being transported by a family member from Florida to Connecticut was reportedly causing a disturbance inside the store.  The subject was checked by EMS personnel before leaving the area.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Chief Cornerstone Church at 107 Brabham Street.

A silver Nissan Metro Sport was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver William Cerna was found to be operating without a driver's license.  Cerna provided Officers with 2 different names and dates of birth in an attempt to conceal his identity at which time he was also charged with providing false information.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to his passenger at his request.

An open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Dispatchers coming from a residence on Sailfish Circle in Carters Mill Estates.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Carquest Auto Parts at 11059 North Jacob Smart Boulevard. 

 

SEPTEMBER 28, 2013

A silver Chevy Captiva was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Kevin Lopez was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver's license with 5 active suspensions for failure to appear in court violations.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to Lopez's passenger who was the original renter of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Eleanor Avenue.

A civil dispute was filed by a customer at the Carolina Lodge at 8260 East Main Street.

A loud music complaint was filed at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A Dodge Ram and a Ford passenger car were involved in a collision on I-95 South.  No injuries were reported.

 

 

SEPTEMBER 27, 2013

A Toyota pickup and a Lincoln Town Car were involved in a collision at the intersection of Main Street and Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Schooners Bar & Grill at 10953 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

An open 911 line was received by Jasper County Dispatchers in the area of Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Hargray storage building at 100 Railroad Avenue.

 

SEPTEMBER 26, 2013

Erica Fripp turned herself in at the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to a warrant being issued stemming from an incident at Baytree Apartments on September 24th.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

Officers responded to the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street where a female subject was threatening to do harm to herself stating that she was on several types of illegal narcotics.  She was taken into protective custody and transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center for evaluation.

A warrant affidavit was filed against Larry Seabrook Malphrus III, 27 of Ridgeland, charging him with filing a false police report in reference to an alleged burglary at his residence on First Avenue on September 9th.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Kingdom Touch Ministries at 6714 Tillman Road.

A male juvenile was turned over to his mother's custody after being caught damaging the Town of Ridgeland Gazebo beside the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at the Blue Heron Nature Trail.  A juvenile petition was filed charging the suspect with malicious injury to real property which was then forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice for prosecution.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Davita Dialysis Center at 112 Weathersbee Street.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

 

SEPTEMBER 25, 2013

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Eleanor Avenue.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Sailfish Circle in Carters Mill Estates.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Kingdom Touch Ministries at 6714 Tillman Road.

 

SEPTEMBER 24, 2013

Officers conducting an investigation at a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates discovered a quantity of marijuana in the bedroom of a male juvenile.  A simple possession of marijuana petition was filed and forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice Office for prosecution.

A warrant was issued charging Justin Sauls, 22 of Estill, with shoplifting after he was identified through video surveillance taken during an incident at the Family Dollar Store at 74 South Green Street on September 19th.  Justin agreed to turn himself in on September 24th but then fled the area before doing so.

Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute in the parking lot of the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.  No charges were filed.

A residence at Woodridge Apartments that had been burglarized on September 23rd was broken into a second time with the suspect gaining entry through a rear kitchen window and stealing several pieces of jewelry and a cell phone that was left in the residence during the first burglary belonging to the suspect.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Daytron Simmons, 25 of Ridgeland, for the charge of burglary 1st.

DAYTRON SIMMONS

A report of property damage was filed by a resident on Shadetree Street regarding taillights of a rental vehicle being busted out by a suspect during a domestic dispute.  Upon further investigation Officers determined that the damage had occurred prior to this date in a vehicle collision.  No charges were filed.

 

SEPTEMBER 23, 2013

A pocketbook was reported stolen in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.  The victim reportedly left the purse in her shopping cart as she placed items in her vehicle at which time someone took it and fled the area.

Two male suspects kicked in a door at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street and assaulted a male and female inside before stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and fleeing the area.

Shawn McMindes was convicted at the Ridgeland Municipal Court of simple possession of marijuana and violation of an order of protection stemming from a traffic stop on I-95 North on August 27th.  He was sentenced to 30 days each charge to run consecutively by Judge T. Scoggins and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Several pieces of electronics and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen from a residence on North Green Street during a burglary during the afternoon while the homeowner was away.

A Dodge Ram pickup and a Jeep Grand Cherokee were involved in a collision in front of St. Pauls Methodist Church at 7488 West Main Street.  No injuries were reported.

 

Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia where a hold had been placed on inmate Kenneth Stevenson Jr. in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department stemming from a traffic stop on South Jacob Smart Boulevard on March 18th, 2012 in which he was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun which he attempted to conceal from Officers.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

SEPTEMBER 22, 2013

Rochelle Reese-Tuten was arrested for criminal domestic violence by Jasper County Deputies and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center where Ridgeland Officers served her with an outstanding warrant stemming from a domestic violence charge on July 2nd, 2011 at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.  Tuten was convicted of the offense at the Ridgeland Municipal Court and ordered to attend anger management classes which she failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A suspicious vehicle was reported on Grays Highway.

A Ford Mustang was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North where it struck the center median guardwires.  No injuries were reported.

 

A lost wallet report was filed at Taylors BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

Four suspicious vehicles were reported behind the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Chief Cornerstone Church at 107 Brabham Street.

A Toyota Avalon was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South where it struck the center median guardwires.  No injuries were reported.

 

A suspicious person was reported at Taylors BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

A suspicious vehicle was reported on Bailey Lane.

 

SEPTEMBER 21, 2013

A suspicious person was reported to be knocking on doors on North Jacob Smart Boulevard in the area of the Siesta Motel.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A noise complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.  No charges were filed.

A total of 6 tires and rims were stolen off of 2 Chevy Impalas at the Jasper County Department of Social Services and the School District Office at 10942 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

A suspicious person was reported at the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.

Officers responded to a noise complaint at the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.  No charges were filed.

A green Honda Accord was sideswiped by a white Chevy Malibu occupied by 4 Hispanic males at the Ridgeland Post Office.  The Malibu then fled the scene prior to Officers arrival.

 

SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

A harassment complaint was filed by a resident at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to threats being made.  Upon further investigation Officers discovered that suspect Joseph Habersham Jr., 37 of Rice Shire Road, was in violation of a restraining order issued against him in August. A warrant affidavit has been filed against Habersham for violation of a restraining order.

A report of vehicle damage was filed at the Shell station at 8309 East Main Street in reference to a taillight coming off of a vehicle on I-95 South which struck the complainants widshield.  Upon further investigation it was determined that the incident had occurred in Colleton County.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Solicitor's Office at 198 Second Avenue.

Ridgeland Investigators filed a juvenile petition against a male juvenile in Oakridge trailer park charging him with burglary 3rd degree in reference to a North Green Street home being vandalized on September 19th after witness statements and other evidence were collected.  The case was then forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice for prosecution.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Courthouse at 265 Russell Street.

A breech of trust complaint was filed by a resident on First Avenue regarding a vehicle being taken for a test drive on Wednesday by a potential buyer and not being returned.  A warrant affidavit is pending against Gina Marie Tapley, 26 of Tickton Hall Road, for the charge of breech of trust.

A loud music complaint was filed at a residence on North Green Street.  No charges were filed.

A civil dispute over a purchased dog was filed by a resident at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

SEPTEMBER 19, 2013

Officers responded to a possible shoplifting at Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street where a subject had reportedly stolen 2 items.  Investigators reviewed the surveillance video and determined that the items had not been concealed or removed from the store.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

A possible domestic dispute was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  No charges were filed.

A moped was stopped for reckless driving on Shadetree Street where the operator told Officers that he had no identification with him and provided a fictitious name and date of birth in an attempt to conceal his identity.  Backup Officers arrived on scene at which time his true identity of Clinton Brown was discovered and he was placed under arrest. Upon further investigation Officers discovered that he was operating under a suspended driver's license and was listed as a wanted person by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center where a hold was placed on him pending extradition to Beaufort County.  The moped was left in the care of a resident on Shadetree Street with Brown's permission.

A shoplifting incident was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 74 South Green Street where video surveillance was gathered by Investigators and is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the H&R Block Tax Service at 8120 East Main Street.

A Toyota and a Nissan were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Green Street and Third Avenue.  No injuries were reported.

Amber Seiy was placed under arrest for shoplifting at  Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street after she loaded a shopping cart with groceries and then left the store without paying.  She was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center where Officers were advised that she was listed as a wanted person by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at which time a hold was placed on her pending extradition.

A harassing phone call complaint was filed by a resident on East Main Street.  No charges were filed.

An open door to a business was reported next to the El Ranchito Restaurant at 11382 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A noise complaint was filed at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.  No charges were filed.

A vacant residence on North Green Street was broken into through a rear door and damaged in several rooms with gang graffiti.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for analysis and suspect identification.

 

SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

A report of property damage was filed at the Advance America business at 8120 East Main Street in reference to a side window being shattered but no entry being made into the business.

A white Lincoln Town Car was damaged by an unknown person in the parking lot of Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at R&M Small Engine Repair at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

An iPhone 4S reported stolen on September 14 at the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail was recovered after several witness statements were gathered.  Juvenile petitions were then filed against two students by Ridgeland Investigators for the offenses of petit larceny and receiving stolen property which were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice for prosecution.

A noise complaint was filed at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.

A black and white Siberian Husky with a white patch on the back of it's neck was reported missing from a residence on North Logan Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Discount Tobacco Business at 8120 East Main Street.

A harassment complaint was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No charges were filed.

 

SEPTEMBER 17, 2013

A theft was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive after employees discovered several items missing out of the room after the tenants checked out.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Kimberly Powell, 21 of Ridgeland, for the offense of petit larceny.

A suspicious person was reported on Honeycomb Court in Bees Creek Plantation.

A blue Dodge Avenger was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where passenger Leroy Renzel, 41 of Statesville North Carolina, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was escorted to the Ridgeland Municipal Clerk of Court's Office where he paid his fine for simple possession.  No further charges are pending.

Officers responded to a civil dispute at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.

A silver Nissan 350z was stopped in the Oakridge Trailer Park at 700 North Green Street where driver Omar Estrada was placed under arrest for reckless driving.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A suspicious subject was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

A Dodge Charger was damaged by an unknown person at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

SEPTEMBER 16, 2013

Terri Toomer was placed under arrest at the Ridgeland Municipal Court after being convicted of assault and battery stemming from an incident that occurred on July 22, 2013.  She was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Dean Bell Law Office at 87 Grays Highway.

Two suspicious persons were reported at a residence on Honeycomb Lane in Bees Creek Plantation.

A silver Chrysler 300 was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Corey Johnson was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun concealed in the backseat.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Cleland's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Promise Way.  No charges were filed.

A trespassing complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 24 West Woodlawn Street.  No charges were filed.

A gray Chevy Uplander was stopped for an expired tag on James Taylor Drive where driver Tarika Anderson was found to be operating under a suspended driver's license due to failure to pay traffic citations as well as being unable to provide proof of valid insurance, all of which she was cited for.  Passenger Marquita Anderson was found to have an unsecured child in the backseat of the vehicle which she was cited for and assigned a court date.  Both subjects then left the scene with a family member as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A loud music complaint was filed at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Spay & Neuter Animal Clinic at 21 Getsinger Street.

 

SEPTEMBER 15, 2013

A red sport utility vehicle was stopped at the Carolina Lodge Motel on East Main Street in reference to a domestic dispute that had just occurred at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  As Officers interviewed one of the parties involved Tara Singleton arrived on scene being identified as the second party.  At the conclusion of the investigation Singleton was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A civil complaint regarding unauthorized use of a credit card was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.  While speaking with the parties involved Ridgeland Officers observed Jason Spann whom they knew to be wanted by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office in reference to an assault and vehicle pursuit in the Fordville area on July 30th.  He was placed under arrest at which time he was found to be in possession of several types of illegal narcotics before being turned over to Jasper County Deputies who transported him to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A runaway juvenile was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive who had not been home since September 13th.  Officers ultimately located the juvenile at Turpin Park on North Logan Street and returned him to the custody of his mother.  A copy of the incident was forwarded to the Jasper County Department of Social Services.

A 2009 Jaguar XF was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South where it reportedly struck a piece of tire debris.  No injuries were reported.

A shoplifting report was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  The suspect left the area prior to law enforcement arrival and the surveillance video was turned over to Ridgeland Investigators for suspect identification.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.

A black Chevy Camaro was stopped for traveling 115 mph on I-95 North where driver William Oneal Jr. was placed under arrest for reckless driving.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

A wallet was reported stolen from the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard containing an undisclosed amount of cash and identification documents. The incident was captured on surveillance video which is being reviewed for suspect identification.

   

 

SEPTEMBER 14, 2013

An iPhone 4S was reported stolen from a classroom at the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.  Upon arrival an open door was discovered leading Officers to clear the building.  Four male juveniles were found in the center courtyard who fled from Officers and were eventually apprehended, one of which was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  The Ridgeland Department of Juvenile Justice Office was notified and juvenile petitions were filed against all four suspects before being released to the custody of their parents.

A harassment complaint was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.

Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Bamberg County Detention Center where inmate Abraham North Jr. was being held after he fled from South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers and was subsequently captured hiding in a wooded swamp area.  His Ridgeland offenses were in reference to three outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department stemming from failure to appear violations on speeding, providing false information to Police and driving under suspension 3rd charges made on a traffic stop on February 20, 2013.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

SEPTEMBER 13, 2013

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

A harassment complaint was filed at the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. Upon further investigation Officers learned that the incident had occurred in the Jasper County area.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Aljaquan Hugue was placed under arrest at the intersection of North Logan and Wilson Street in reference to a warrant issued against him for assault and battery 3rd stemming from an incident that occurred on September 9th on West Adams street where he reportedly struck a male juvenile in the face as he attempted to rob him of a necklace.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road.

Brooklyn Waser was placed under arrest for operating under the influence on Tarboro Road after her white Dodge Durango overturned several times between Kingdom Touch Ministries and Tillman Road.  She refused EMS treatment and was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Cleland's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

   

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.

 

SEPTEMBER 12, 2013

A report of property damage was filed by a resident on Honeycomb Lane in Bees Creek Plantation in reference to someone attempting to gain entry into his 2003 Cadillac Escalade over the Labor Day weekend.

A suspicious person was reported to be attempting to force their way inside of a room at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.

Officers responded to a residence on Mcteer Street where someone had entered the residence through a kitchen door while the homeowner was in another room.  The family dog chased the intruder from the residence and no items were found to be missing.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for analysis and suspect identification.

A Nissan Maxima and a white utility van were involved in a minor collision on South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Woodlawn Street.

A Toyota and a pull behind trailer were involved in a collision in the parking lot at the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.

A suspicious person was reported in the restroom at the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

Lorenzo Pippens Jr turned himself in to Ridgeland Investigators at the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to a larceny committed on August 26th in Bees Creek Plantation.  A warrant had been issued against him after he was identified through video surveillance captured during the incident. Warrants are pending against the remaining two suspects.

 

SEPTEMBER 11, 2013

A larceny report was filed at Aussie Auto Body at 1010 West Adams Street regarding the theft of an undisclosed amount of cash.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for analysis.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.

A tenant causing a disturbance was reported at the Christ Central Mission at 11754 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No charges were filed.

A Chevy Malibu and a GMC Envoy were involved in a collision on Grays Highway at the Fourth Avenue intersection.  No injuries were reported.

 

An assault report was filed at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street.  Upon further investigation it was revealed that the incident had occurred 2 days prior in the Sun City area.  The complainant was given contact information to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office to report the incident.

A suspicious person was reported at Neds Pub & Grub at 11090 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

SEPTEMBER 10, 2013

Jasper County Deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Lynch's Ford Road where they located Brandi Cruz at the residence.  Cruz was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to three outstanding warrants for failure to appear on traffic violations in 2011.  She was placed under arrest and turned over to Ridgeland Officers who transported her to the Jasper County Detention Center.

An incident of possible child abuse was reported at Turpin Park. 

A Toyota Camry was stopped for a tag violation on South Logan Street where the passenger stated that he had just been the victim of a robbery at the Sisters Ferry Road entrance to Carters Mill Estates.  The victim stated that 3 Hispanic males in a red Jeep SUV shoved him to the ground and took an undisclosed amount of cash from him.

A disorderly subject causing a disturbance was reported at Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.  No charges were filed.

Ridgeland Investigators attempting to locate Timothy Patrick Malphrus in reference to a burglary warrant being issued against him received information that he was at his residence on Second Avenue.  As Officers approached the area Malphrus was seen leaving the house walking across Floyd Street at which time he disappeared from view.  Officers established a perimeter of the immediate area and ultimately located Malphrus hiding in a tall grassy area at which point he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

 

SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

A white GMC Sierra was stopped for several moving violations at the intersection of West Main and North Jasper Street where driver Julian Castillo-Gonzalez was found to be operating without a driver's license as well as under the influence.  In addition, both Gonzalez and his passenger Luis Garcia were found to be in possession of open containers of alcohol.  Both men were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Chief Cornerstone Church at 107 Brabham Street.

Four people appeared at the Ridgeland Municipal Court for rule to show cause hearings in reference to defaulting on time payment plans stemming from previous convictions on different charges ranging from shoplifting to driving under the influence.  Janeika Taylor, Shareema Behlin, Julian Chaney and Erica Fripp all had their bonds revoked at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter on Dolphin Drive in Carters Mill Estates.  No charges were filed.

A suspicious person complaint was filed at Taylors BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

Officers responded to a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates in reference to a male juvenile driving a car. After gathering statements a juvenile petition was filed against the suspect and forwarded to the Ridgeland Department of Juvenile Justice Office for prosecution.  The suspect is currently on probation for a previous offense.

Ridgeland Officers responded to a call for assistance on East Adams Street where Aljaquan Hugue was fighting Officers attempting to take him into custody after assaulting and attempting to rob a male juvenile in front of the Magistrates Office at 967 West Adams Street and then jumping onto the hood of a marked Jasper County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated security light at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

An open door was reported at a vacant residence on Hagin Drive.  Officers checked the home and secured the door.

A report was filed by an employee of the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive in reference to two male suspects taking $50 cash from her property while she was working. The men are suspected of staying in one of the vacant motel rooms and both fled the area on foot prior to Police arrival.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the abandoned apartment buildings behind Ken's Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A resident on First Avenue awoke during the night to find someone inside of his home without permission.  When the homeowner confronted the intruder he was assaulted several times before finally getting help at a neighbor's house as the suspect fled the area on foot.  A warrant has been issued against Timothy Patrick Malphrus for the charge of burglary 1st.

 

SEPTEMBER 8, 2013

A gray GMC Yukon was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where passenger John Butler was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol which he attempted to conceal from Officers.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates where a father a father and son were arguing.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.

A white Dodge Caravan was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Peter Costello was found to be operating without a driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Eric's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at R&M Small Engine Repair at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

SEPTEMBER 7, 2013

A white Pontiac G6 was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where passenger Gianna Grogan of Florida was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was issued a citation for simple possession before departing the area.  The evidence seized was transported to the Ridgeland Police Department for analysis and pending trial.

A lost wallet report was filed at Harveys Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

Officers responded to a report of juveniles fighting at the Jasper County High School softball field during a football game.  Once on scene a female was found on top of another screaming and choking her.  She assaulted and threatened arresting Officers as they attempted to take her into custody and damaged Police equipment inside of a Ridgeland Patrol vehicle once she was placed inside.  She was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Columbia where she was already on probation from a previous assault and battery charge filed on June 26, 2012.  Officers were later dispatched back to the High School playing fields where two male juveniles were reportedly fighting but left the area prior to Police arrival.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at H&H Furniture at 10706 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A Ford Explorer and an Oldsmobile wagon were involved in a collision on Highway 462 near the Roseland Road intersection.  Two occupants were transported by EMS personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville and a third to Savannah Memorial Hospital.

 

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Fifth Avenue.

A loud music complaint was filed by a resident at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  No charges were filed.

A white Toyota Corolla was stopped for disregarding a stop sign at the intersection of Bees Creek and Old House Roads where driver Linwood Nelson was found to be operating under a suspended driver's license with three previous convictions for driving under suspension.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

 

SEPTEMBER 6, 2013

A white Chevy Silverado was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Sabas Castro-Ruiz was found to be operating without a driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to his passenger at his request.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Schooners Bar & Grill at 10953 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed regarding a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates.

A suspicious person complaint was filed in reference to three subjects in the parking lot of the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

A white Dodge Caravan was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Lawrence Barrington was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to his passenger at his request.

A Yamaha motorcycle lost control on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where the driver stated that a tractor trailer ran him off the road.  No injuries were reported.

Two suspicious persons were reportedly arguing at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates.  No charges were filed.

A gold Toyota Corolla was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Steve Davis was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver's license as well as having a quantity of marijuana in his possession and an unsecured child inside the vehicle.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to his passenger at his request.

 

SEPTEMBER 5, 2013

A gray Nissan Altima was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Pearl Powell was found to be operating under the influence as well as having open containers of alcohol in her possession.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Cleland's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at C&C Millwork at 119 Industrial Park Road.

Three suspicious vehicles were reported at Badcock Furniture at 10213 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Hampton County Detention Center where inmate Lacy Ray was being held in reference to three outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department for failure to appear violations on a driving under suspension and shoplifting incident on April 16, 2009 and a driving under suspension 2nd offense on April 22, 2009.  He was turned over to Ridgeland Police custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.

A harassment complaint was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialist office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

A bank owned residence on Beach Street was broken into by an unknown person through a rear window.  Once inside the suspect caused damage to a wall and light fixture.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for analysis.

Officers responded to a residence on North Jasper Street in reference to someone possibly being inside the homeowner's car port.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers conducting a safety checkpoint on Grays Highway stopped a gray Lexus IS250 being operated by Reginald Greene who was listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department for a failure to appear on three previous traffic offenses.  Ridgeland Officers arrived on scene and placed Greene under arrest as the vehicle was turned over to a family member.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency at 9438 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A disturbance was reported at the Handy Dan's main office at 7596 West Main Street.

Two persons were reported arguing in a wooded area on Wise Street near the Woodlawn Street intersection.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Courthouse at 265 Russell Street.

 

SEPTEMBER 3, 2013

A red Dodge Charger was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Delvon Green was found to be operating under a suspended driver's license for failure to pay traffic fines with one previous driving under suspension conviction as well as having an open container of alcohol in his possession.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a mother and son at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. No charges were filed and the mother was referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice Office.

A harassment complaint was filed at the Economic Opportunity Office at 1506 Grays Highway. No charges were filed.

A disorderly subject was reported at Scott's Automotive at 195 South Green Street.  The subject was order to leave the property and placed on trespass notice.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a father and son at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 24 West Woodlawn Street.  No charges were filed.

A report of possible illegal drug activity was reported at the Blue Heron Nature Trail.

A black Chevy Suburban was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the area without reporting the collision in the parking lot of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Hargray Storage building on North Railroad Avenue.

Ridgeland Officers stopped a green Nissan on North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a domestic dispute that occurred on Rice Shire Road.  The driver of the vehicle was reported as the victim of the dispute and was put in contact with Jasper County Deputies in order to file a report.

Officers responded to a report of two men arguing in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No charges were filed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

A harassment complaint was reported at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.  Upon Officers arrival witnesses became uncooperative.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 24 West Woodlawn Street where Steven Clark was placed under arrest following an incident with his common law wife.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

SEPTEMBER 2, 2013

A brown Buick Roadmaster was stopped for speeding on I-95 North were driver Wesley Ballard was found to be operating under a suspended driver's license for failure to pay reinstatement fees in addition to being unable to provide proof of valid insurance coverage.  Upon further investigation Officers discovered that the license plate displayed on Ballard's vehicle was assigned to a Chevy Impala.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to passenger Jessica Benka.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge community.

The front door window glass of the Center Court Sports Apparel store was found by patrolling Officers to be broken out in a small section.  A check of the store by the owner showed nothing to be missing and the glass breakage was attributed to the heat.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Hargray Storage building on North Railroad Avenue.

 

SEPTEMBER 1, 2013

Officers responded to I-95 South around the 17 mile marker where a white Saturn passenger car was found unoccupied off of the roadway lodged in a drainage ditch.  The vehicle's registered owner was contacted by telephone and advised that the vehicle would be removed from the area.  Webster's Automotive responded and took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

A black Buick passenger car was stopped for loud a music violation at the intersection of Third Avenue and Green Street where driver Leroy Brooks III was found to be listed as a wanted person by Mooresville NC authorities for a burglary charge.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center to await extradition to North Carolina as the vehicle was released to his passenger Joseph Mikell.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Hargray Storage building on North Railroad Avenue.

A report was filed by a resident on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates in reference to illegal drug activity involving juveniles.  No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.

A report was filed regarding 2 men arguing over money at a residence on Jaudon Street.  No charges were filed.

Officer responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Fifth Avenue.
