Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on an as-needed basis to review, variance request, special exceptions, and appeals of a CRC decision and/or a staff determination.

The Comprehensive Act lists the powers of the board of appeals. S.C. Code § 6-29-800. The powers of the board are limited to three specific subject matter areas:

1. Determining appeals from administrative decisions of the zoning administrator;
2. Granting or denying of applications for variances;
3. Granting or denying of applications for special exceptions.
