MAY 22, 2015

 

  • 8:24 a.m. - A complaint of several vehicles speeding through the neighborhood was reported by maintenance staff at Carters Mill Estates on Shadetree Street.

 

  • 8:27 a.m. - A burglary was reported at the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road after employees discovered an undisclosed amount of cash missing from the adoption office area.

 

  • 9:11 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Saul's Funeral Home Office at 310 West Adams Street.

 

  • 11:08 a.m. - A suspicious white male was located on the property of the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road after a transient became lost in the woods in an attempt to avoid walking on I-95.  He was escorted off of the property without incident.

 

  • 12:37 p.m. - Officers responded to the K&L Granite and Marble Showroom at 11742 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a report that an employee had threatened the complainant with a rifle after he became lost in the woods and wandered into the K&L workshop area.

 

  • 1:05 p.m. - A larceny was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street after the previous night's deposit was found to be over $1000 short.  Information was received that an unknown person had called during closing procedures identifying themselves as a member of Corporate Management in an attempt to obtain cash card numbers.  This case is currently under investigation.

 

  • 1:17 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted at a residence at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a possible case of child abuse against a 3 month old girl.  DSS Agents and Ridgeland Investigators found no signs of abuse or neglect against the child who was left in the care of her parents.

 

  • 3:38 p.m. - A gray Toyota Camry and a White Ford delivery van were involved in a collision at the intersection of Sweet William and Bees Creek Road.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:25 p.m. - A black Chevy Silverado was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker where driver John Kincaid, 21 of Pelion SC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.

 

  • 4:26 p.m. - A white Ford Explorer was stopped at the intersection of North Green Street and Third Avenue for a failure to yield right of way violation after turning in front of oncoming traffic at the North Jacob Smart Boulevard stoplight.  Driver Crescenciano Salazar was found to be operating without a driver's license at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 4:40 p.m. - A report was filed by a pedestrian on First Avenue after a dog allegedly chased the complainant before being called back by the owner.

 

  • 4:48 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white BMW traveling in excess of 100 mph.

 

  • 6:05 p.m. - A Kenworth tractor was reportedly stolen from the Harry C. Brown Attorney at Law Office at 11169 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 6:55 p.m. - A discarded wallet was turned in at the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after being discovered lying in the roadway by a pedestrian.  The item was returned to the rightful owner after several pieces of identification were discovered inside.

 

  • 11:53 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to an Acura SUV swerving across both lanes of travel.

 

 

MAY 21, 2015

 

  • 8:00 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

 

  • 10:28 a.m. - A civil complaint was filed at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road in reference to a non-resident using the complex trash dumpster.

 

  • 11:34 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to an activated alarm at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 3763 Bees Creek Road after an open door was discovered.

 

  • 1:01 p.m. - A black Nissan Altima and a gray Ford Fusion were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 1:26 p.m. - A gold Nissan Altima was stopped for speeding on I-95 South at the 21 mile marker where driver Jarbin Adali Carias-Zuniga was found to be operating without a driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 1:42 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker in reference to a brown pickup weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 1:46 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white GMC or Cadillac SUV traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 4:37 p.m. - A gold Nissan Pathfinder was stopped for speeding in front of the former Owens Building Supply at 9454 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver William Alberto Garcia was found to be operating without a driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 8:20 p.m. - A loitering complaint was filed at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to several black males shooting dice behind one of the complex buildings.

 

  • 9:23 p.m. - Officers responded to Harveys Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street after an employee discovered a bag of discarded marijuana lying on the floor on one of the store aisles.  A review of surveillance footage shows a black male dropping the item at 9:04 p.m.  Charges are pending suspect identification.

 

 

MAY 20, 2015

 

  • 12:59 p.m. - Ridgeland Officers responded to the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail in reference to a student resisting arrest while armed with a knife and fleeing from a Jasper County Deputy running through the school and out of a rear door into a wooded area.  School Officials placed the campus on lock down as Officers searched for suspect Lamann L. Alston, 17 of Hardeeville SC, who was ultimately located approximately an hour later hiding behind a van in the bus parking lot where he was placed under arrest without further incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under JCSO charges of carrying a weapon on school property.

  • 2:20 p.m. - A report of a possibly wanted person out of Okeechobee FL was filed in reference to a white male staying at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.  A check of the subject's information showed him to have an outstanding municipal bench warrant for a driver's license violation; however Florida authorities declined extradition.

 

  • 4:25 p.m. - A suspicious white male was reported at the former Owens Building Supply at 9454 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 6:29 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the K&L Granite and Marble Showroom at 11742 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 6:38 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker in reference to a black Ford Focus drifting in and out of the lane of travel.

 

  • 7:28 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Badcock Furniture Store at 10213 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 7:55 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a Chrysler PT Cruiser crossing the center line several times.

 

  • 8:07 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road.

 

  • 10:59 p.m. - A report of a possible gunshot being fired was filed at a residence on East Main Street.

 

  • 11:36 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 10 mile marker in reference to an orange tractor trailer swerving in the lane of travel.

 

 

MAY 19, 2015

 

  • 12:28 a.m. - An open window was discovered at the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.  No signs of criminal activity were found and the business was secured by Officers.

 

  • 12:59 a.m. - A white Chevy Cavalier was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Caroline Ella Johnson was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol as well as displaying a suspended Pennsylvania tag stemming from a cancellation of insurance resulting in her being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.  Passenger Wayne Morgan, 53 of Fernandina Beach FL, was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol which he was cited and assigned a court date for prior to leaving the area as Scott's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 6:34 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 13 mile marker in reference to two tractor trailers not allowing other motorists to pass.

 

  • 7:10 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 7:22 a.m. - Hardeeville Officers responding to a burglary in progress at a residence on East Main Street detained 2 of 3 suspects fleeing from the scene on foot, one of which was identified as Brandon Ling Martin who was listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department stemming from an outstanding burglary warrant.  Ridgeland Officers traveled to the incident location in Hardeeville where Martin was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center for warrant service.  Martin's charges stemmed from an August 10, 2012 incident at the Little T's Garage at 11059 North Jacob Jacob Smart Boulevard where numerous items were stolen during a nighttime burglary.  Evidence collected at the scene was submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory which returned with a positive DNA match on July 22, 2014 identifying Martin as the suspect resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

 

  • 12:56 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Woodlawn Street.

 

  • 3:02 p.m. - A property damage report was filed in reference to a gray Toyota Camry suffering damage while parked in a parking lot at the corner of First Avenue and North Jasper Street sometime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

 

  • 4:04 p.m. - A Ford F250 pickup and a Chevy Avalanche were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:06 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on North Jasper Street.

 

  • 8:07 p.m. - A propane tank was stolen from a forklift at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive sometime between the hours of 2:30 and 7 p.m.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

 

  • 9:29 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the H&H Furniture Store at 10706 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

 

MAY 18, 2015

 

  • 12:10 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to two allegedly armed black males in a gray Dodge Charger.

 

  • 5:11 a.m. - A suspicious person was reported at a residence on East Adams Street.

 

  • 5:37 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.

 

  • 9:31 a.m. - A report of possible property damage was filed at the Ridgeland High School baseball field concession stand at 456 Grays Highway after a staff member noticed a gate being slightly open.  A check of the property revealed no signs of criminal activity or missing items.

 

  • 11:24 a.m. - A domestic dispute was reported in the parking lot of the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main Street in reference to a male and female arguing in a Toyota Solara.

 

  • 1:51 p.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department at 1 Town Square in reference to messages being posted on Facebook allegedly violating a court issued no contact order.

 

  • 2:26 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer drifting across the center line.

 

  • 2:28 p.m. - An abandoned blue Toyota Camry was towed from the I-95 Southbound truck parking area at the 19 mile marker after being left unattended on the property for 10 days.  The vehicle was turned over to J&M Towing for storage.

 

  • 2:29 p.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to messages being posted on Facebook.

 

  • 2:36 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a pickup traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 3:11 p.m. - A white Hyundai Sonata suffered front end damage when it struck a piece of debris in the roadway on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 3:20 p.m. - A possible case of child abuse was reported at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  This case is currently under investigation.

 

  • 5:57 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 6:58 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 9:28 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 10:36 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a silver Toyota Scion weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 10:48 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at a residence on East Adams Street in reference to a group of males standing around in a wooded area behind Logan Lane Apartments.

 

 

MAY 17, 2015

 

  • 1:48 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a trespassing complaint at Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a patron refused to leave the property when ordered by security staff.

 

  • 2:27 a.m. - A gray Lexus was stopped for driving without headlights in operation at the Ridgeland Farmer's Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside of the vehicle. Rear seat passenger Angelique Danielle Mone Robinson exited the vehicle with one hand in her pocket attempting to conceal a 32 caliber handgun resulting in her being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.  Front seat passenger Diona Norise, 18 of Ridgeland SC, was ultimately found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana which she was cited and assigned a court date for before leaving the area.

 

  • 3:27 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported on Wiley Street in reference to a tan Ford sedan circling the area several times.

 

  • 4:30 a.m. - A black Dodge Ram pickup was stopped for a lane change violation at the Farm Bureau Insurance office at 9438 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Bernard Coney was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol as well as being in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  Rear seat passenger Anthony Gibbs was found to be in possession of an open container of liquor which he attempted to discard upon discovery as front seat passenger McCarl Casey Simmons attempted to discard a separate container by throwing it into the back seat. During a search of the vehicle a 9 mm handgun was discovered in the glove box area along with a quantity of powder cocaine, both of which Gibbs claimed ownership of.  A criminal history check revealed all three suspects to be convicted felons prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.  The three men were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott's Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 5:36 a.m. - A marked Jasper County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle with blue lights activated was struck by a Toyota Avalon while backing up Ridgeland Officers during a traffic stop on South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  The Toyota then fled the scene traveling North but was soon after stopped by South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers on Old House Road where driver Harley Dawn Dwyer, 25 of Beaufort SC, was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under SCHP charges of driving under the influence and open container.  No injuries were reported in the collision.

  • 8:00 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.

 

  • 9:11 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 10:42 a.m. - An assault was reported in the parking lot of Logan Lane Apartments involving a black male suspect who had fled the scene when 911 was called.  One of the responding Officers spotted a subject matching the clothing description provided by Central Dispatch running through the parking lot area at which time Davonte Quentin Freeman was detained without incident.  During the interview of both parties Freeman continuously shouted obscenities in the parking lot resulting in a charge of public disorderly conduct.  After statements were obtained and evidentiary photographs were collected Freeman was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 2:02 p.m. - A white Ford Ranger was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North at the 22 mile marker when a blown tire caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle striking a sing post and a tree.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 2:51 p.m. - A red Honda motorcycle was stopped for traveling 97 mph on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker where operator Milton Reaves, 31 of Savannah GA, was found to be operating without without a motorcycle license as well as displaying an expired GA tag and having no valid insurance coverage.  He was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date as Blatchley's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 3:42 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Gretsch manufacturing facility at 248 Grays Highway.

 

  • 4:25 p.m. - A Honda and a Ford were involved in a collision on West Adams Street.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:39 p.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a gray Honda occupied by 4 allegedly armed black males..

 

  • 9:13 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

 

 

MAY 16, 2015

 

  • 9:29 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on James Taylor Drive.

 

  • 9:41 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a silver convertible sedan weaving in and out of traffic while traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 10:07 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker in reference to a red Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 2:49 p.m. - Patrol Officers spotted a Hispanic male stumbling in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.  After interviewing the subject Officers determined that he was highly intoxicated at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 4:31 p.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Brooklyn Drive in reference to a burglary in progress after the homeowners discovered a 16 year old Hispanic male inside of the residence when they arrived home.  The suspect was detained by Deputies without incident and ultimately released to the custody of his mother following an interview and a statement provided by the victim who declined pursuing charges against him.

 

  • 5:18 p.m. - Officers responded to the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street in reference to a male subject who had fallen off of the black Bahama moped he was operating while attempting to execute a right hand turn into the restaurant parking lot. Matthew Delaney was ultimately placed under arrest after being determined to be intoxicated and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T's Towing took possession of the vehicle.  No injuries were reported in the incident.

 

  • 6:20 p.m. - A dispute was reported on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community following an incident between the complainant's wife and a 19 year old male from a neighboring household.  Both parties were warned to avoid one another and to report any further incidents.

 

  • 6:39 p.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to the area of Captain Bill Road in reference to reports of a black male subject firing a handgun into the air.

 

  • 11:05 p.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a report of gunshots being fired at a residence on Orange Grove Road in the Mitchellville area.  Once on scene, multiple shell casings were discovered in the roadway as well as on the front lawn of one of the residences.  Information was obtained that a 30 year old male had been shot and gone inside of a neighboring residence before leaving the area in an an unknown direction prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  The scene was turned over to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

 

 

MAY 15, 2015

 

  • 3:50 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Smith's Crossing after after the homeowner discovered a male subject on the property breaking into vehicles and beating on the front door of the home causing damage to the window glass.  Jeremy Thacker, 29 of Bluffton SC, was ultimately placed under arrest by Deputies under the charge of malicious injury to property at which point he became combative resulting in an additional charge of public disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center without further incident.

  • 8:39 a.m. - A larceny was reported at D&R Auto Sales at 7622 West Main Street after several checks were found to be missing under the account of the Gillisonville Baptist Church.

 

  • 8:48 a.m. - A black Subaru Legacy was struck by a white International logging truck at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Highway 278 causing damage to both vehicles.  The logging truck then continued on traveling West as the driver of the Subaru followed.  The truck was ultimately stopped by Officers in front of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail where the driver was cited and released.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 9:56 a.m. - Patrol Officers spotted a male subject riding a bicycle on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker where a check of his information showed him to be listed as a wanted person by the Osceola County FL Sheriff's Office in reference to an outstanding aggravated battery warrant.  Randall Michael Hirst was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center pending extradition back to Florida.

 

  • 2:19 p.m. - Officers responded to the Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street in reference to a male subject being at the store where two employees have a court issued order of protection prohibiting him from being there while they are working. Frank Baran was stopped in the parking lot driving a brown Chevy S-10 pickup where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was left secured in the parking lot with his permission.

 

  • 3:52 p.m. - A report of suspected patient abuse was filed by a mother in reference to her 24 year old autistic son's care at the New Generations Center at 8205 East Main Street.  A forensic interview is set to be scheduled at the Hope Haven offices in Beaufort SC.

 

  • 4:15 p.m. - Patrol Officers spotted a burgundy Ford Expedition traveling North on Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Highway 278 intersection bearing a Georgia tag showing registered to a Saturn.  A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver of the suspect vehicle turned into the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store parking lot in an aggressive manner coming to an abrupt stop behind the business. Two black males then exited the vehicle leaving two females inside and fled on foot running East towards the Pizza Hut Carry Out at 10856 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  A check of the vehicle's information revealed it to be listed as stolen from the Hardeeville area several days prior in addition to being identified as being used in a separate motor vehicle theft and pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz on May 14th in Beaufort County.  An iPad found inside of the Expedition returned as being stolen stemming from that theft.  After obtaining witness statements and reviewing video footage a warrant affidavit was filed against Isaiah Lamon Walker, 19 of Hardeeville SC, charging him with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property.  His information was also forwarded to Hardeeville Investigators and Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Detectives.  The suspect vehicle was turned over to Blatchley's Towing.

  • 5:26 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed in reference to loud music coming from the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

 

  • 5:40 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at the Jasper County DSS Office at 10908 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a Hispanic male subject knocking on windows of various vehicles and lying on the ground.

 

  • 5:51 p.m. - A report of illegal drug activity was filed in reference to subjects at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 7:04 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted on a residence on East Main Street after several 911 hang up calls were received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 7:21 p.m. - A dispute between two male tenants was reported at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

 

  • 7:26 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

 

  • 8:02 p.m. - A larceny was reported at the Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street when a customer accidentally left her white iPhone 6 in the store after shopping.  Once she returned home and realized that she had left it she contacted Harvey's and spoke with an employee who told her that two juveniles on skateboards had attempted to sell him a phone matching the given description moments earlier.  Officers soon after spotted the juveniles in front of the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street where both denied any knowledge of the incident.  A review of the Harvey's surveillance video revealed footage showing that the same employee who accused the two juveniles was in fact the person who had picked up the phone when the complainant dropped it while leaving the store.  When confronted with this evidence the employee confessed to the theft and led Officers to a row of bushes on East Wilson Street where he had hidden the phone to be picked up later. It was then returned to the rightful owner who declined pursuing charges against the employee.

 

  • 8:29 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community in reference to loud music coming from a neighboring residence.

 

  • 9:22 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 25 mile marker in reference to a silver Ford Focus drifting in and out of the lane of travel.

 

  • 10:33 p.m. - A silver Dodge Caravan was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker.  As the Officer approached the vehicle from the passenger side, driver William Charles Davis Jr. was observed holding a loaded sawed off shotgun in his lap with the barrel pointing towards the driver's side door while looking back over his left shoulder towards the Officer's patrol vehicle.  Davis was held at gunpoint as backup units were dispatched to the scene where he was ultimately placed under arrest without further incident.  A check of the vehicle information revealed it to be listed as stolen out of Wilmington NC and a search of Davis' belongings uncovered numerous active cell phones as well as several paper tabs soaked in LSD.  The shotgun Davis was in possession of was found to have an obliterated serial number and will be submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory in an attempt to recover them.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 11:54 p.m. - Security Personnel at the Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive spotted a Ford Expedition pulling a boat out of the parking lot well after store closing.  The vehicle was ultimately stopped on the I-95 North on ramp at exit 21 where the driver provided documents proving ownership of the boat.

 

 

MAY 14, 2015

 

  • 12:20 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

 

  • 8:02 a.m. - A 911 call was received by a motorist driving a burgundy Ford Explorer traveling North on Highway 17 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland stating that the vehicle was malfunctioning and he was not able to stop or turn the ignition off.  Ridgeland Officers provided a rolling escort with the vehicle from the town limits at Kato Bay Road until the driver was finally able to disable the ignition at the North Green Street intersection.  He was soon after transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment after complaining of chest pains as Eric's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 8:11 a.m. - A larceny was reported at the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a routine review of security footage revealed a black female stealing store items before leaving the area in a silver Honda CR-V.  If you have any information on the identity of the subject pictured below please contact Jasper County Emergency Services at 843-726-7519 or Sgt.   • 10:36 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in the I-95 Southbound truck parking area around the 17 mile marker in reference to a blue Toyota Camry.

 

  • 11:35 a.m. - A silver Acura RSX was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:22 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a white van tailgating other motorists.

 

  • 4:23 p.m. - A dispute was reported at the McDonald's Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road after a customer dissatisfied with the service continued to argue with Management after being supplied with a refund.  Upon arrival Joseph David Bowerman refused to leave the property while continuing to argue resulting in him being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 6:18 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on Highway 462 in reference to a silver Toyota 4 Runner swerving in and out of the lane of travel.

 

  • 6:21 p.m. - A domestic dispute between a husband and wife was reported at a residence on First Avenue after the male allegedly took the female's cell phone from her and refused to return in.  Upon the responding Officer's arrival the male party went back inside of the residence and struck the female resulting in him being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 8:04 p.m. - A complaint was filed at a residence in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community in reference to a victim being approached by the defendant in a pending kidnapping trial while at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 9:10 p.m. - A domestic dispute between a husband and wife was reported at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

 

 

MAY 13, 2015

 

  • 3:01 a.m. - A civil dispute between a tenant and Management was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street regarding a refund on a rented room.  Braxton Leon Jobe, 35 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property at Management's request without incident.  Jobe was advised of the necessary steps in order to file a civil suit regarding the dispute if he so wished.

 

  • 8:57 a.m. - A fight in progress between a male and a female was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  During the initial response Officers were advised that the suspect had left the scene in a gold Ford Taurus with 3 other individuals which was shortly after spotted by a Ridgeland K9 Officer on East Woodlawn Street.  A traffic stop was then conducted on the vehicle in the parking lot of Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street where the suspect provided a statement of the events that allegedly occurred at Baytree.  Evidence and statements collected on scene at First Avenue provided no indication that a physical assault had occurred.

 

  • 10:50 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where a hold had been placed on inmate Jeremy Levon Murphy in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Murphy's charges stemmed from an October 10, 2014 traffic stop at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and Smith's Crossing where he was arrested and charged with an expired tag, driving under suspension 3rd and providing false information to Police.  He was then found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on December 8, 2014 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

 

  • 12:14 p.m. - A civil dispute was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive in reference to monies owed between a tenant and Management.

 

  • 12:59 p.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in the KFC Restaurant parking lot at 8120 East Main Street in reference to a Greyhound bus being left open and unoccupied on the business property since 10 a.m.

 

  • 2:38 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 32 mile marker in reference to a UPS tractor trailer swerving all over the roadway.

 

  • 2:40 p.m. - A hit and run incident was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a legally parked red Dodge Caravan was struck by an unknown vehicle which then left the area without reporting the collision.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:00 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted at an abandoned residence on the corner of Lydia Lane and Old Logan Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 5:57 p.m. - A burglary was reported at a residence on East Woodlawn Street after the homeowner discovered an open rear window and an undisclosed amount of cash missing from a lock box which had been pried open.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for analysis.

 

 

MAY 12, 2015

 

  • 1:56 a.m. - Patrol Officers spotted a suspicious male behind the Harvey's Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.  The subject was found to be a 15 year old juvenile who was ultimately turned over to the care of his Mother after she was contacted by Officers.

 

  • 3:58 a.m. - A gray Mazda CX-9 was stopped for speeding on I-95 South at the 21 mile marker where the driver provided Officers with a fictitious name and date of birth in an attempt to conceal his identity; however the information he provided returned as a suspended South Carolina driver's license at which time he was placed under arrest.  Further investigation revealed that the tag displayed on the vehicle was registered to a Chevy pickup and the vehicle itself was found to be reported stolen out of Charlotte NC. An open container of beer was discovered during a search of the vehicle which back seat passenger James Murray Willingham, 47 of Charlotte NC, was cited for before leaving the area with front seat passenger Eric Nathaniel Cobbs, 37 of Charlotte NC.. The driver was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle. Upon arrival at the detention center he was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine which he was attempting to conceal inside the Patrol Vehicle resulting in an additional charge.  His true identity was ultimately revealed during the booking process and he was positively identified as Anthony Lamar White of Charleston SC.

 

  • 7:33 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of two suspicious persons asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot of the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street.  Upon arrival Eric Nathaniel Cobbs and James Murray Willingham were both found to be intoxicated at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 11:09 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at Saul's Funeral Home at 310 West Adams Street.

 

  • 11:18 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in front of the Jalisco Tienda Tortilleria at 7790 West Main Street in reference to a blue mini van.

 

  • 2:03 p.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road in reference to unwanted calls and messages being received from the complainant's son.

 

  • 5:44 p.m. - A 39 year old male was voluntarily transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment and evaluation after reportedly taking a large quantity of prescription medication.

 

 

MAY 11, 2015

 

  • 10:43 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North in reference to a blue Toyota traveling between Hardeeville and Ridgeland not allowing other motorists to pass.

 

  • 12:20 p.m. - A stray golden retriever was reported at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road.  The animal was not aggressive and was collected by Ridgeland Animal Control before being turned over to the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road.

 

  • 12:58 p.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to Talid Rashee Drake returning to the property around 12:00 a.m. putting him in direct violation of a trespass notice issued against him on March 10th.  A warrant affidavit was filed against him under the charge of trespassing after notice.  Patrol Officers later spotted Drake at 7:16 p.m. on East Main Street underneath the I-95 overpass where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center without incident.

 

  • 1:18 p.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at Devonwood Apartments in reference to a dispute between two neighboring residences.

 

  • 3:47 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.

 

  • 4:46 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer swerving across both lanes of travel.

 

  • 4:48 p.m. - Two warrants were issued against Shanasha Kim Wilson, 25 of Estill SC, charging her with no driver's license and providing false information to Police.  Wilson's charges stem from a May 4th collision at the intersection of Grays Highway and Third Avenue involving a Kia Rio and a Mitsubishi Galant which was being driven by Wilson.  She provided the responding Officer with fraudulent identification in an attempt to conceal her identity due to the fact that she was operating in violation of her expired South Carolina beginner's permit.  Information was received on today's date, (May 11th), from the registered owner's insurance company identifying Wlson as the true driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision.  Her information was then retrieved from the South Carolina DMV and compared against the responding Officer's body camera footage positively identifying her as the driver.

  • 7:52 p.m. - A burglary was reported at a residence on North Jasper Street after the homeowner returned home to find several pieces of jewelry missing.  The incident is said to have occurred sometime between May 7th and 11th.

 

  • 8:09 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 8:12 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road in reference to a male subject being on the complainant's property.

 

  • 10:11 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy swerving all over the roadway.

 

  • 11:41 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.

 

 

MAY 10, 2015

 

  • 2:57 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a vehicle stopped in the lane of travel on I-95 South around the 15 mile marker.  Upon arrival a disabled Nissan Altima was found partially blocking the roadway which was removed a short time later without incident.

 

  • 3:12 a.m. - A fight in progress was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a female armed with a bat attempting to strike a male subject who was hitting another female.  The subject with the bat let the property and the male and female went inside of an unknown apartment prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  No calls were received by any persons claiming to have been assaulted.

 

  • 9:37 a.m. - A welfare check was conducted on a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after two 911 hang up calls were received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 10:02 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the R&M Small Engine Repair Shop at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 12:06 p.m. - A report was filed at the McDonald's Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road in reference to a female subject allegedly attempting to intentionally strike the complainant's vehicle.

 

  • 12:28 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to David Clelane being in the area who was listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department.

 

  • 1:15 p.m. - David Wayne Cleland was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being spotted by Patrol Officers in the parking lot of the former Goodwill Store at 10750 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Cleland's charges stemmed from a May 8th larceny at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.

 

  • 5:03 p.m. - A black Chevy Tahoe was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 16 mile marker where driver Glenn Mitchell was found to be operating under a suspended Virginia driver's license stemming from a previous DUI conviction as well as being in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 5:10 p.m. - A gray Chevy Avalanche was involved in a single vehicle collision on Frontage Road after the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle over.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 5:47 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

 

  • 6:15 p.m. - A larceny was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 73 Green Street after a review of security footage revealed two black females stealing store items.  The footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

 

  • 6:23 p.m. - A white Toyota Sequoia and a blue Dodge Caravan were involved in a collision on North Green Street at the entrance to Oakridge Trailer Park.  One occupant was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

 

  • 6:52 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Smith Street.

 

  • 6:54 p.m. - Two suspicious Hispanic males were reported at the intersection of East Main and North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 7:22 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the H&H Furniture Store at 10706 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 8:00 p.m. - A civil dispute was reported at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob in reference to a pending eviction process.

 

  • 8:55 p.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a vehicle traveling with no headlights in operation.

 

  • 9:25 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road in reference to a white male subject seen walking through the woods.

  • 3:16 a.m. - A suspicious person was reported in reference to a male subject walking in the roadway on Old House Road at the Honey Hill intersection.

 

  • 5:57 a.m. - A missing person report was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after a domestic dispute resulted in a year old female leaving the residence and not returning.  Promise McClain is described as a 17 year old black female standing 5' 7" tall and weighing 120 pounds.  She was last seen behind The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard wearing a white Abercrombie shirt, blue jeans and an Atlanta Braves baseball hat.  If you have any information on her whereabouts please call 911 or Jasper County Emergency Services at 843-726-7519.

 

  • 9:29 a.m. - A property damage report was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive after a tenant discovered numerous scratches on the body of her blue BMW 525i.

 

  • 1:35 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 26 mile marker in reference to a black Cadillac swerving all over the roadway.

 

  • 4:05 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community in reference to a loud music coming from an event at the Ridgeland Farmers Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 8:02 p.m. - A report of possible sexual solicitation involving a teenage female and her mother was reported at a residence on North Green Street.

 

  • 9:01 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at the intersection of Floyd Street and Main in reference to loud music.

 

  • 9:10 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street in reference to a black male with braids shouting threatening remarks in the parking lot.

 

  • 10:34 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed in reference to loud music coming from an event at the Ridgeland Farmers Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 10:40 p.m. - A theft was reported at a residence on North Green Street after the complainant allowed a friend of his, David Wayne Cleland 26 of Ridgeland SC, to hold his Smith and Wesson M&P 40 caliber handgun.  Cleland then fled the area on a bicycle with the item while the complainant was distracted.  The victim did not wish to pursue charges pending the handgun's safe return.

 

  • 11:59 p.m. - A domestic dispute between a male and female was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to an event that allegedly occurred inside of a vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the complainant upon arrival at her room..

 

 

MAY 8, 2015

 

  • 6:49 a.m. - A breach of trust report was filed at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after the complainant's ex-boyfriend took her silver Pontiac Vibe without permission.  The vehicle was returned shortly after without further incident.

 

  • 7:25 a.m. - A burgundy Toyota Sienna was stopped at the intersection of Highway 278 and Green Street after failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic while making a left turn from South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Driver Zosima Aparicio was found to be operating without a driver's license at which time she was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger with Aparicio's permission.

 

  • 9:28 a.m. - A silver Saturn was stopped for speeding on East Adams Street where driver Alyssa Aparicio was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver's license stemming from a previous DUI conviction in Beaufort County.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 10:47 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Beacon of Hope Church at 11332 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 2:52 p.m. - A tan Honda Civic and a SCDOT truck were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Highway 278.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:46 p.m. - A Jasper County Sheriff's Deputy discovered a discarded wallet lying in front of the Fiddler's Seafood Restaurant at 7738 West Main Street containing numerous cards and pieces of identification.  It was turned over to Ridgeland Officers to be returned to the rightful owner in Springfield GA.

 

  • 4:47 p.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road.  Upon arrival a black Chevy Camaro bearing a South Carolina tag registered to a Jeep Cherokee was discovered occupied by David R. Connell, 49 of Ridgeland SC, and Kenneth Eldimor Allison, 58 of Hilton Head SC.  A check of their information revealed Connell to be listed as a wanted person by authorities in New Hampshire and Allsion, to be listed as a wanted person by authorities in Maryland.  Extradition was declined by both states as both men were placed on trespass notice and ordered to leave the property.  The vehicle was left on scene due to the invalid tag and having no valid insurance coverage with the understanding that the registered owner, Kenneth Allison, would have it removed from the property in a timely manner.

 

  • 4:52 p.m. - A green Subaru Legacy and a white Dodge Ram were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Logan and Wilson Street.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:53 p.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in front of the Jalisco Tienda Tortilleria at 7790 West Main Street in reference to a blue mini van.

 

  • 5:54 p.m. - A complaint was filed on East Adams Street in reference to vehicles traveling through a wooded area with garbage and shopping carts strewn about connecting to the Logan Lane Apartment complex.

 

  • 6:05 p.m. - A theft was reported at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a customer accidentally left a wallet lying on the counter containing an undisclosed amount of cash.  The complainant realized the item was missing after returning to Hardeeville.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

 

  • 7:45 p.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed by a property owner on East Frontage Road in reference to several subjects swimming in a lake on his property which is leased for hunting purposes.  Upon arrival four 15 year old juveniles and two 14 year old juveniles were ordered to leave the property and not return.  Juvenile petitions were filed on each and forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice at the property owner's request.

 

  • 7:59 p.m. - A suspicious person report was filed in reference to 4 subjects in the wooded area bordering the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road.

 

  • 8:20 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 9:11 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in reference to loud music coming from a vehicle parked in front of a neighboring residence.  The vehicle left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

 

  • 9:34 p.m. - A theft was reported at a residence in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community at 700 North Green Street after a homeowner discovered an undisclosed amount of cash missing from her purse just after a relative left the residence.

 

  • 10:07 p.m. - A theft was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after a male subject asking to use another tenant's restroom allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a purse left inside the room.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against David Wayne Cleland, 26 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with larceny.

  • 12:23 a.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at the Handy Dan's Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to Tylid Drake, 34 of Ridgeland  SC,causing a disturbance and shouting Bible verses in the parking lot.  Drake has previously been placed on trespass notice for the business property; however he fled the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

 

  • 3:33 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported in front of the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a blue Dodge Caravan.

 

  • 4:37 a.m. - An intoxicated 39 year old male was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville from a residence on Live Oak Farm Road after ingesting a large quantity of prescription medication.

 

  • 6:13 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

 

  • 10:18 a.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a female tenant having a dispute with the father of her child.

 

  • 1:27 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South in reference to an elderly male driving a red Ford Mustang drifting off of the roadway several times while driving with his emergency flashers activated around the 42 mile marker.

 

  • 4:13 p.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at the Ridgeland High School baseball field after a staff member discovered an open gate and two suspicious persons near the concession stand area.  Upon approaching the subjects, one fled on foot and the other stayed on scene until Law Enforcement arrival.  Gabriel Guerra, 17 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the property without incident and the subject who fled, a 16 year old male juvenile, was later brought to the Ridgeland Police Department at which point he too was placed on notice at staff request.

 

  • 11:26 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South in reference to a white SUV weaving in and out of traffic and flashing headlights at other motorists around the 31 mile marker.

 

  • 11:43 p.m. - A green Mitsubishi Galant was stopped for a defective equipment violation on Sweet William Drive where driver Yaro Ilich Gutierrez-Ubau was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

 

MAY 6, 2015

 

  • 1:16 a.m. - A suspicious person was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to a male subject asking customers and passers by for money.

 

  • 5:03 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reportedly parked in front of a vacant residence on Hagin Drive.

 

  • 6:55 a.m. - A harassment complaint was filed at the Jasper County Board of Disabilities Office at 1512 Grays Highway in reference to a subject maneuvering his vehicle in the parking lot as if he were about to intentionally collide with the complainant's vehicle.

 

  • 9:23 a.m. - Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute between a male and female at a residence on Stellars Jay Road.  Upon arrival a female subject was observed throwing a block of wood at a male standing in the roadway at which point she was detained without further incident.  The male party left the area prior to providing any statements to Law Enforcement at which time the female was released due to lack of victim cooperation.

 

  • 10:26 a.m. - A robbery was reported by an employee of the Advance America Store at 8120 East Main Street after a light skinned black male driving a blue Mercury sedan with paper tags allegedly blocked the employee's vehicle in the wooded area connecting East Adams Street behind the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street.  The male then reportedly pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money at which time he was given the Advance America deposit bag.  He was reportedly last seen driving towards Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.

 

  • 11:20 a.m. - A suspicious vehicle was reported on Industrial Park Road in reference to a black Ford Fusion.

 

  • 12:41 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.

 

  • 4:00 p.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at a residence in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community at 700 North Green Street in reference to a previously unreported incident occurring on May 5th at approximately 11 p.m. involving a juvenile male being asked to leave the property at which time he began cursing and shouting at the homeowner.  The complainant requested that the juvenile be placed on trespass notice for the property should he return.

 

  • 4:22 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street in reference to Talid Drake, 34 of Ridgeland SC, sleeping in the gazebo area.

 

  • 6:20 p.m. - A red Magnum 50qt moped was reported stolen from the side of Eric's Automotive at 11115 North Jacob Smart Boulevard sometime between the hours of 5:30 and 6:15 p.m.

 

  • 10:42 p.m. - A loitering complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals complex at 67 West Woodlawn Street in reference to several males standing around in the parking lot area reportedly engaged in illegal drug activity.

 

 

MAY 5, 2015

 

  • 1:11 a.m. - A loitering complaint was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive in reference to Talid Drake, 34 of Ridgeland SC, hanging around the business.  He was placed on trespass notice for the property at Management's request without incident.

 

  • 4:51 a.m. - A red Ford Fusion was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker where passengers Daniel P. Coelho, 21 of Framingham MA, and Curtis L. Simoneau, 22 of Sandburg MA, were both found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  They were cited and assigned a court date for the offenses before leaving the area.

 

  • 9:07 a.m. - Officers responded to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to inmate Akeem Dante Benson throwing bodily fluids on two other inmates as well as a member of detention center staff.  Three warrant affidavits were filed against Benson for the respective charges.  He has been being held at the detention center under Jasper County Sheriff's Office charges of armed robbery and weapons violations since September 10, 2014 stemming from an August 20, 2014 incident on Old House Road.

 

  • 9:35 a.m. - A property damage report was filed at Saul's Funeral Home at 310 West Adams Street after employees discovered several wires had been pulled out of the ignition on a red and black Polaris Ranger 4x4 stored on a trailer behind the business.

 

  • 12:31 p.m. - A brown Hyundai Sonata was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker where driver Delfino Gutierrez-Vasquez was found to be operating without a driver's license as well as being in possession of an open container of beer. During a search of the vehicle passenger David Sargento was also found to be in possession of an open container of beer resulting in both men being placed under arrest.  They were transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

 

MAY 4, 2015

 

  • 4:25 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer flashing bright lights at other motorists.

 

  • 8:47 a.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department by a member of the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road in reference to Talid Drake, 34 of Ridgeland SC, causing a disturbance at the Church among parishioners on several occasions.  Drake was placed on trespass notice for the property as well as the property of The Heart of God Outreach Ministry Church at 1182 East Adams Street stemming from an April 29th complaint.

  • 11:17 a.m. - A silver Nissan Sentra was stopped for speeding on North Jacob Smart Boulevard at the North Green Street intersection where driver Adalid Galvez was found to be operating without a driver's license.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley's Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 11:25 a.m. - A blue Honda Civic was stopped for a suspended tag violation in front of the R&M Small Engine Repair Center at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Ernest Joshua Manker, 55 of Ridgeland SC, was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver's license stemming from a cancellation of insurance. He was cited and assigned a court date for suspended tag, operating uninsured, driving under suspension, failure to surrender suspended tag and failure to surrender suspended driver's license before leaving the area as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 11:43 a.m. - A Kia Rio and a Mitsubishi Galant were involved in a collision on Grays Highway at the Third Avenue intersection.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 3:15 p.m. - A Honda Accord was struck by a piece of debris after a tire blew out on a tractor trailer traveling in front of it.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 6:02 p.m. - A child custody dispute was reported at the Ridgeland High School baseball field at 456 Grays Highway following an unreported domestic dispute at a residence in the Fordville area.

 

  • 6:28 p.m. - A larceny was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to a checkbook and wallet being stolen from a tenant's room sometime between the hours of 2:30 and 4:00 p.m.  The wallet was recovered in the business parking lot by the victim's son.

 

  • 6:39 p.m. - A report of a possible assault was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to several females attempting to instigate a fight in the parking lot allegedly involving bats and pepper spray.

 

  • 7:25 p.m. - A disturbance was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to an ongoing dispute between two females.

 

  • 9:45 p.m. - A harassment complaint was filed by an employee of the KFC Restaurant at 8146 East Main Street in reference to an ongoing dispute between two females carried over from several previous recent incidents at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

 

  • 10:33 p.m. - Talid Drake, 34 of Ridgeland SC, was reportedly sleeping in the McDonald's Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.  He left the area of his own accord prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

 

 

MAY 3, 2015

 

  • 12:06 a.m. - A noise complaint was filed on Wise Street in reference to loud music coming from an event at the Ridgeland Farmers Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 12:31 a.m. - A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Grahamville Road after an open 911 line call was received at Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 5:03 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer swerving in the roadway.

 

  • 11:58 a.m. - An illegal drug transaction was reported between a white male and the occupant of a silver Hyundai on McCormack Avenue.

 

  • 1:41 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 11 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer not allowing other motorists to pass.

 

  • 2:11 p.m. - A domestic dispute between a male and female was reported in a blue vehicle traveling North on Jacob Smart Boulevard around the Woodlawn Street intersection.

 

  • 3:09 p.m. - Officers responded to an ongoing dispute between 2 females at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  Kimberly Bernita Bolden, 22 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice at the Property Manager's request without incident.

  • 3:35 p.m. - A Volvo tractor trailer was involved in a collision with a U-Haul moving trailer after it became detached from the Chevy Traverse that was towing it on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 4:24 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker in reference to an elderly male operating a black Toyota pickup swerving across both lanes of travel at varying speeds.

 

 

MAY 2, 2015

 

  • 2:26 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a green GMC Acadia stopping short in front of other motorists nearly causing a collision.  Ridgeland Officers spotted the vehicle passing the 21 mile marker with it's high beams in operation and following too closely behind another vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated around the 19 mile marker where driver Joan P. Cumbee was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol as well as being in possession of an open container of wine. Further investigation revealed a quantity of schedule II narcotics inside of the vehicle resulting in an additional charge.  Cumbee was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

 

  • 3:42 a.m. - A white Honda Accord was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck several trees off of the right shoulder.  No persons were found in or around the vehicle upon Law Enforcement arrival.  A-1 Towing arrived on scene and removed the vehicle from the area.

 

  • 5:55 a.m. - Officers responded to Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a female subject attempting to instigate a fight with another female.  During the course of the investigation the suspect was found to have left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival but was soon after located walking East on First Avenue at the Owens Street intersection.  Anastasia Aiken was ultimately determined to be under the influence of alcohol.  at which time she was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 6:07 a.m. - A blue 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was stolen from the parking lot of Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street after the vehicle owner left it running and unlocked.  The vehicle has tinted windows and a dent in the hood on the driver's side.

 

  • 4:39 p.m. - A complaint was filed at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a mother telling her child to assault another child stemming from an ongoing dispute between the two childrens' mothers.

 

  • 4:55 p.m. - A silver Honda Accord and a gray Dodge Charger were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 6:53 p.m. - A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to numerous subjects standing around in the parking lot.

 

  • 7:16 p.m. - Dana Alan Potwin was placed under arrest at the intersection of Henry Lawton and Grahamville Road after being determined to be highly intoxicated following a response by EMS Personnel.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

 

  • 7:32 p.m. - Officers responded to a fight in progress in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue involving 3 to 5 females.  Upon arrival no primary aggressor could be determined due to numerous conflicting statements from persons involved as well as little to no cooperation from potential witnesses.  The incident is the result of an ongoing dispute between the females stemming from an April 6th incident at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 8:52 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Azalea Avenue in reference to loud music coming from an event at the Farmers Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 10:02 p.m. - A group of suspicious males was reported at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

 

  • 10:47 p.m. - A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community in reference to loud music coming from a party at a neighboring residence.

 

 

MAY 1, 2015

 

  • 3:46 a.m. - A driver lost control of a vehicle on Highway 462 at the Rice Shire Road intersection resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and becoming stuck in a roadside drainage ditch.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 5:23 a.m. - A report of gunshots being fired in the area was reported at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

 

  • 7:37 a.m. - Officers responded to a residence on East Wilson Street in reference to a 37 year old female possibly attempting to do harm to herself following an argument with a family member.  The female was voluntarily transported by EMS personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation.

 

  • 8:52 a.m. - A stray dog was reportedly growling at passers by at the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.  The dog was collected by Ridgeland Animal Control and transported to the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road without incident.

 

  • 8:57 a.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

 

  • 9:47 a.m. - A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 traveling North around the Smith's Crossing intersection in reference to a gray Toyota Avalon swerving in and out of the lane of travel at varying speeds.  The vehicle was ultimately stopped by Ridgeland Officers on East Main Street where the driver admitted to having been distracted while driving.

 

  • 10:11 a.m. - A possible shoplifting was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.  A consensual search of the suspect's vehicle revealed no stolen items.

 

  • 10:32 a.m. - A U-Haul moving truck was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker where driver Abdool Z. Zaman was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

 

  • 11:17 a.m. - A trespassing complaint was filed at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.  The suspect left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

 

  • 12:52 p.m. - A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland in reference to a white SUV traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

  • 12:58 p.m. - A gold Lexus IS300 and a white Lincoln Continental were involved in a collision on North Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Wilson Street intersection.  No injuries were reported.

 

  • 1:09 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Courthouse at 265 Russell Street.

 

  • 2:01 p.m. - A suspicious person was reported at the intersection of Russell Street and West Main Street.

 

  • 3:40 p.m. - A complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department by a Yemassee SC resident after several fraudulent charges appeared on the complainant's credit card statement stemming from purchases made in the Ridgeland town limits on April 29th and 30th.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

 

  • 5:27 p.m. - A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Bailey Lane after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

 

  • 5:28 p.m. - An article of drug paraphernalia was discovered inside of a company owned truck at the Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive after the vehicle was recovered from a Georgia impound lot following a DUI arrest on yesterday's date.

 

  • 6:06 p.m. - Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road.

 

  • 7:05 p.m. - A possible assault was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to two females fighting a third.  No persons were found upon Law Enforcement arrival and no reports were filed by any such victim.

 

  • 9:12 p.m. - A silver Nissan Murano was stopped for an illegal tag cover violation on West Main Street at the Sisters Ferry Road intersection where driver Julio Vasquez-Alberto was found to be operating without a driver's license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster's Towing took possession of the vehicle.
